How To Do Natural Bridal Makeup

Ever since women started wearing cosmetics (without being publicly condemned) in the Roaring Twenties, the art of wearing makeup has become a tradition followed. Nowadays, a popular trend in makeup is being natural, and “no makeup” has a very strong following. Going “au naturel” is perfect obviously for every day but also quite appropriate for weddings. That said, here are several ways to look flawless and most importantly, yourself, without going too overboard.

1. Eyeshadow
Whenever it comes to makeup, and especially bridal makeup, it is always best to start with the eyes because then there is less chance of messing it up when concealer and foundation are already applied. With eyeshadow, you do not want to be too bold–anywhere from a skin tone color to a shimmery gold or silver is perfect. An excellent gold shade can be found in LORAC’s Pro 2 palette (Rose, it’s called) and a silver shade can be found in the same palette (Silver). If you’re going to use either one of those two, it is highly advised you use a blending shade that is close to your skin tone.

2. Brows
After you’re done applying your eyeshadow colors, it’s time for the brows. If you feel you have scraggly or uneven brows a good eyebrow pencil or gel is key. When getting your brow cosmetics it is best to find a shade in the pencil or gel that is close and suitable enough to your hair color. If you are dark haired for example, a brunette color is appropriate. Also, be sure to brush your brows so that they will not be uneven in shape. This can be done before or after you’ve applied the gel or pencil formula.

3. Eyeliner
Eyeliner can be found in cake, liquid, or pencil form. It also comes in a variety of colors, including black. With the natural look in mind, black is more than appropriate. And also, it is very classy. You can create a cat eye look or just use a simple lining of the top eyelid.

4. Mascara
Like eyeliner, mascara comes in a variety of colors. Again, though, it is safer to opt for a classic black mascara. If you want the full, “false” look on eyelashes, Benefit’s They’re Real mascara works wonders, and if you want a more simpler appearance, anything by Clinique is highly recommended.

5. Concealer
Now onto the face. With face makeup such as concealer and foundation, you want to make sure it’s close to your skin tone–after all, you don’t want to look all orangey and washed out–and that it moisturizes well, especially the foundation. Before you apply the latter, however, it is best to cover up the blemishes and other skin imperfections with concealer. Main places to focus on are under the eyes and the pimples, if you have any.

6. Foundation
After you are done applying concealer, foundation is obviously the next step. You want to make sure the foundation hydrates, and it close to your skin tone. When you apply it–this can be done with a foundation brush (recommended) or your fingertips–be sure to blend it in with your neck. If you’re not into foundation, BB cream works just as well.

7. Finishing powder
This is a must, especially if you’re going to be outside in the heat. Once you have finished applying the concealer and foundation, be sure to secure its place with finishing powder. This can be applied with a classic powder puff or applicator (if you get the kind that is in a compact). Add a bit to your undereyes and once you’re done applying it, you will see that your face is matte and not so shiny.

8. Blush
To stay within the confines of natural, a pink blush is recommended, and whichever shade of pink you choose, make sure it works well with your skin tone. When applying it, it us better to use a brush designed for applying blush.

9. Lipstick/Gloss
With lipstick a new trend is the nude shade of color. Though you shouldn’t feel too restricted here–I have found that a pink shade works wonders, and also a red as well. It is good to be natural, but don’t forget the color as well.
